I'm no longer on Tumblr! I refused to give all their 3rd parties unlimited access to my computer. Link still works, but no updates.

The Five Units Challenge - Report 19 - Donna's Wedding

The day of the wedding was here! Donna wanted a formal arrangement, and so did her mom, Sylvia. I'm not really sure what Gerald, the groom, wanted.

The essentials were bought and placed in the garden. For a second I thought that one of the 5 garden units could actually be a permanent wedding plot, but no - there's no skill involved. Those units must be dedicated to skills, it's part of this challenge, after all.

Thanks to the money that Gerald brought, they did not have to check price tags. A musician was hired to play funky club piano noise throughout the ceremony. A chef was hired to serve them some good quality food.

The guest list was not overwhelming, but consisted of family for the most. Donna's brothers were both staying in San Myshuno with their new families, but only Sammy's wife attended, seated together with her brother-in-law, Rudolph, though. Kids could not be invited, which was a pity, but I assume that Donna never actually met them, and only friends can be invited to a wedding. I wish family could be invited even if you never met them, like someone you met could be told to bring their full household. A wedding or a birthday party would be a nice and natural opportunity for building those new relations.

Fiona looked stunning as always, although her dress came across as a bit too modest, and she already shared several pictures on her online profile. Sylvia got herself a new blue formal dress, and she looks better with a little makeup. Abraham just looked like he would start crying at any second.

And then Donna and Gerald were ready! Donna's pregnancy really showed, and for a second Gerald looked rather shy. Would he get cold feet?

- Yes, I do!, Donna said.
- Yes, I do, too!, Gerald said.

Then no guests applauded, instead they stood up.

Sylvia looked like the mom of the bride should look, she could hardly believe this big day taking place.

To be honest, the wedding was a bit hurried. When Donna planned this event, I expected that she also could set the time, like the following day. After all nothing was prepared, the household was not showered, dressed or fed, etc. But no, the planning resulted in guests showing up right away! So, isn't that more like THROWING than PLANNING the party?

So, Abraham taking a nap while the others ate wedding cake is not as weird as it looks.

What *is* weird is that the hired chef served the guests egg and toasts... quality was excellent, but still a strange menu for a wedding...

Sylvia also found it weird that her good friend Dorothy Flemming attended with no makeup and in what looked like a rather masculine outfit. There certainly was something weird about Dorothy.

After eating eggs and toasts, guests flocked outside, and Donna quickly hired a bartender. It got rather lively, although the bride herself was getting quite sleepy.

Sylvia was already sleeping on a garden bench, the piano noise from the hired musician was obviously not enough to keep her awake.

Then the event ended, and everyone returned to normality.

The next morning Donna and Sylvia had breakfast on the terrace. The wedding arch and benches were still out there in the garden, like an evidence on something nice that took place the day before.

- He accepted to take your name, Donna?
- Yes. Gerald has no family nor background, so I don't think the last name is important to him, Donna said and ate more cake leftovers. - Is the Clump name important to our quest? Must my grandchild be named Clump?
Sylvia laughed. - No. Not important at all. We'd just like this household to be the Clump household, that's all.

For lunch, Donna had even more cake, and her sister Fiona joined her.
- I might move out soon, Fiona announced. - Your wedding inspired me!
- Any boyfriend?, Donna asked.
But Fiona did not answer, she was too busy eating cake.

They used to be quite close, but by time Donna learned that they are quite different. While Donna prefers family life, Fiona is a strange mix of enjoying a trip to Granite Falls and behaving like an SoMe star posting hairstyles and makeup. She wasn't a very successful person, and definitively not as rich as she makes others think. Okay, it might be her job to pretend, almost like being an actress, but Donna had problems seeing her sister pretending living a different life. Fiona came across as dishonest.

Then the birth came up! While Abraham watched his favorite show on TV, and Gerald was just hanging there, Donna gave birth to a wonderful baby boy!

They named him August Clump. But it was too early to tell the color of his hair and eyes. Will they be black and green?

More in a few days!
